What this scheme offers
Launched in 2003, Yeshasvini was India's first health insurance scheme run entirely through farmer cooperative societies, built on the insight that a large network of small, modest premium payments could collectively fund surgical care that individual farmers could never afford alone. Members of Karnataka's rural cooperatives pay a modest annual premium — commonly cited around ₹500 — and in return get cashless cover up to ₹5 lakh for surgeries at a network of over 1,500 hospitals, covering conditions from cardiac procedures to cancer surgery.
Who is eligible
- Member of a registered cooperative society in Karnataka (agricultural, milk, or similar rural cooperatives) for at least 6 months to a year, per current rules.
- Premium paid for the current coverage year.
- Family members are typically covered depending on the specific membership plan.
