What this scheme offers
Originally launched as Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana and made universal across all Rajasthan families from 1 May 2021, MAAY provides cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals, with a high cover limit of up to ₹25 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care — including pre- and post-hospitalisation costs, and coverage for conditions like hemodialysis and COVID-19. The scheme is integrated with the central Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY: families already eligible for PM-JAY get automatically enrolled, and Rajasthan tops up the cover well beyond the central scheme's ₹5 lakh limit. Children under 1 year are covered even before being formally added to the family's Jan Aadhaar card.
Who is eligible
- Permanent residents of Rajasthan holding a Jan Aadhaar card.
- Families under NFSA (National Food Security Act) or SECC (Socio-Economic and Caste Census) criteria get coverage free of cost.
- Small and marginal farmers, and contractual workers, are also covered under the free category.
- Families on the COVID-19 ex-gratia list are eligible.
- Any other family not meeting the free-eligibility criteria can still enrol by paying an annual premium of ₹850.
