Kalibai Bheel Medhavi Chhatra Scooty Yojana

A free scooty for meritorious girl students in Rajasthan — removing the transport barrier that keeps many rural girls from continuing their education after school.

What this scheme offers

Named after Kalibai Bheel, a tribal student martyred defending her teacher during colonial-era efforts to shut down a girls' school, this scheme addresses a very practical dropout driver: many girls in rural Rajasthan discontinue education after Class 12 simply because the nearest college is too far to reach safely without personal transport. Running since 2014-15, the scheme awards a free scooty (moped) to girl students who achieve top academic results — historically covering high Class 12 board exam performers, alongside additional categories for high achievers in specific university/college-level exams. The scheme initially focused on SC/ST students and has been broadened over time to include a wider set of meritorious categories — check the current year's eligible categories, since criteria and coverage have evolved.

Who is eligible

  • Girl students who are permanent residents of Rajasthan.
  • Achieved top marks/merit in Class 12 board examinations (specific percentage/merit-list thresholds are set each academic year).
  • Additional eligible categories exist for meritorious performance in certain university or higher-education exams — check the current notification for your category.
  • Must be continuing further education (college/university enrolment) to receive and retain the scooty under the scheme's conditions.

Documents required

  • Class 12 (or relevant exam) marksheet
  • Aadhaar card
  • Residence proof (Rajasthan)
  • College/university admission proof
  • Bank account and Jan Aadhaar details

How to apply

  1. Check the current year's merit-list criteria and eligible categories on the Department of Higher & Technical Education's portal or through your school/college.
  2. Eligible top performers are often identified directly from board exam merit lists — check with your school if you qualify based on your results.
  3. Where a separate application is required, apply online through the department's designated portal (hte.rajasthan.gov.in) or SSO Rajasthan, submitting your marksheet, Aadhaar and admission proof.
  4. Applications are verified against official board exam records.
  5. Scooty distribution is typically organised through a formal ceremony or camp at the district or state level once your eligibility is confirmed.
