What this scheme offers
Most of Kerala's flagship health schemes step in once someone is already sick enough to need hospitalisation — KASP for major treatment, Samaswasam for chronic dialysis and transplant care. Arogyakeralam works earlier in that chain, at the level of primary health centres across the state, focused on catching non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension through routine screening before they progress to something requiring expensive hospital-based treatment. It's less visible than the big insurance schemes precisely because its job is to reduce how often people need those schemes in the first place.
