Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Shetkari Karj Mukti Yojana (MJPSKY)

Maharashtra's flagship farm-loan relief scheme, launched in 2019: it waives crop loans up to ₹2 lakh taken between April 2015 and March 2019 and overdue as of 30 September 2019, and pays a further ₹50,000 incentive to farmers who kept repaying on time instead of defaulting.

What this scheme offers

Launched in December 2019 and named after the social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, MJPSKY set out to break a specific cycle: farmers so deep in crop-loan debt that they couldn't get fresh credit for the next season, trapping them further. It waives short-term and restructured crop loans up to ₹2 lakh taken between April 2015 and March 2019 that were still overdue as of 30 September 2019. Crucially, it also rewards the farmers who didn't default — anyone who repaid their loans in full and on time during 2017–18, 2018–19, or 2019–20 receives a ₹50,000 incentive, so the scheme doesn't end up only benefiting those who fell behind.

Who is eligible

  • Farmer with a short-term or restructured crop loan from a scheduled bank or cooperative society in Maharashtra.
  • Loan taken between April 2015 and March 2019, outstanding as of 30 September 2019.
  • For the ₹50,000 incentive specifically: loan repaid in full and on time during FY 2017-18, 2018-19, or 2019-20.
  • Aadhaar-linked, active bank account.

Documents required

  • Aadhaar card
  • Bank loan account details / passbook
  • Land records (7/12 extract)
  • Bank account linked to Aadhaar

How to apply

  1. This is a beneficiary-list-based scheme, not an open application — check your status at mjpsky.maharashtra.gov.in using your Aadhaar or bank account details.
  2. If your name doesn't appear but you believe you're eligible, contact your bank branch or the District Cooperative Office to raise a correction.
  3. Ensure your Aadhaar is linked and seeded correctly with the loan account — this is the single most common reason a genuinely eligible farmer's payment gets held up.
  4. For the ₹50,000 regular-repayer incentive specifically, your bank confirms your repayment record to the government portal — no separate application is needed if your bank's records are accurate.
