What this scheme offers
The Chief Minister Widow Pension Scheme, launched on 2 November 2021, gives widows in Manipur ₹500 a month. It was started for widows aged 18 to 40, a group that was left out of the central Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, which covers women from 40. At a July 2026 briefing the Social Welfare Department described it as ₹500 a month for eligible widows aged 40 and above, and for HIV-positive widows aged 18 and above, as part of a distribution of about ₹104 crore to 1.2 lakh vulnerable people. The widow must be a resident of Manipur without sufficient income. Because the age condition has been described in different ways, widows of any age should ask the District Social Welfare Officer which category they fall in.
