Meghalaya Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board

Registration for Meghalaya's construction workers aged 18 to 59 who have worked 90+ days in the past year (rural job-guarantee days count), for a ₹5-a-month subscription, unlocking a pension from 60, family and disability pension and other board benefits.

What this scheme offers

The Meghalaya Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board registers construction workers and gives registered members welfare benefits funded by a cess on construction. A worker who has completed 18 but not 60 years and has worked more than 90 days in building or other construction work in the previous 12 months, and who is not a member of any other welfare fund, can register under section 12 of the central Building and Other Construction Workers Act. Days worked under the rural job guarantee count towards the 90, and migrant workers from Meghalaya working in other states can also register. The Deputy Labour Commissioner is the registering officer. Benefits include a pension on completing 60 years, a family pension to the surviving spouse, a disability pension for permanent disability from causes such as paralysis, leprosy, TB or accidents, and other board benefits, which registered members can apply for online.
