Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana (Odisha Artists' Assistance)

A monthly pension of ₹1,200 for indigent elderly artists in Odisha who have enriched the state's arts and culture, for annual income up to ₹50,000 (rural) or ₹60,000 (urban), selected by a District Level Committee headed by the Collector.

What this scheme offers

The Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana, started on 17 January 2018 under rules framed that year, gives monthly financial assistance to indigent elderly artists who have devoted their lives to enriching and preserving Odisha's arts and culture. The assistance is ₹1,200 a month, 'or as determined by the Government', remitted each month to the artist's savings bank account. The scheme looks at age, income, the artist's contribution and the condition of the artist's family, and an artist who gets similar help from another government scheme is not eligible. A District Level Selection Committee chaired by the Collector selects artists, and the approved list goes to the Director of Odia Bhasa, Sahitya O Sanskruti. The 2026 budget carried about ₹51 crore for the scheme within a ₹135 crore Odia language and culture allocation, and applications open in windows announced by the department.
