What this scheme offers
Punjab's paddy harvest is genuinely massive, and manual, paper-based procurement at grain markets used to mean real bottlenecks during the peak arrival season — long queues, delayed payments, and a process that was hard for any individual farmer to track. Anaaj Kharid moves the transaction online: farmers, rice millers and commission agents (aarthiyas) register and record transactions through the portal, with the goal of getting Minimum Support Price payments to farmers faster and with a clearer, more traceable record than paper-based procurement allowed.
