What this scheme offers
Pregnancy and the weeks around childbirth are exactly when a poor woman can least afford to lose income from daily labour, yet that's often when rest is most needed. This scheme pays ₹6,000 to pregnant and lactating women in Rajasthan for their second child, split into four instalments tied to specific milestones — early registration for antenatal care, completing the required check-ups, delivering at a health facility, and getting the child immunised. Structuring the payment this way does double duty: it compensates for lost wages and nudges mothers toward the safe-care steps that reduce maternal and infant risk.

- This is her second live birth (specific conditions apply for other cases).
