What this scheme offers
Important: this scheme is announced but not yet running. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced it in the Assembly on 24 August 2026, and it is due to start on Pongal in January 2027. Eligible families will have the cost of three domestic LPG cylinders a year refunded to their bank account — about 1.3 crore families, at roughly ₹4,000 crore a year. The target group is families with annual income up to ₹2.5 lakh, small and marginal farmers, families with persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable households; the government has said it will use the Magalir Urimai database to identify beneficiaries. The TVK manifesto had promised six cylinders — the first phase covers three. Detailed eligibility rules, documents and the claim process have not been notified yet; we'll update this page when they are.
