What this scheme offers
Tamil Nadu's Social Welfare Department lists several old marriage-assistance schemes, and two of them still pay for a wedding: the E.V.R. Maniammaiyar Ninaivu scheme for the daughter of a poor widow, and the Annai Theresa Ninaivu scheme for an orphan girl. In both, a bride who has passed Class 10 receives ₹25,000, and a degree or diploma holder ₹50,000, together with an 8-gram, 22-carat gold coin for the thirumangalyam; the cash was earlier part cash and part National Savings Certificate and is now paid through ECS. The third old scheme, Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar, was reshaped from 2022-23 into a higher-education scheme, covered on the Pudhumai Penn page. The new Annan Seer scheme, ordered on 5 October 2026, is a separate gold-coin-and-saree gift whose portal has not opened.
