What this scheme offers
Farming families face a risk that pure investment-support schemes like Rythu Bharosa don't address: what happens to the household if the farmer themselves dies, for any reason, while still of working age. Rythu Bima answers that directly — every landowning farmer in Telangana aged 18 to 59 is covered by a ₹5 lakh life insurance policy, with the state paying the entire premium to LIC on the farmer's behalf, so there's no cost or paperwork burden on the family until a claim is actually needed. Crucially, the cover applies to death from any cause, not just farm accidents, and claims are typically settled within about 10 days.
Who is eligible
- Landowning farmer in Telangana, aged 18 to 59 years.
- Valid land records in the farmer's name.
- Registered under the Rythu Bima scheme (registration is generally linked to Rythu Bharosa land records).
Documents required
- Aadhaar card
- Land records
- Age proof
- Nominee's Aadhaar card and bank account details
How to apply
- Registration is typically automatic for farmers already registered under Rythu Bharosa with valid land records — check your status at rythubima.telangana.gov.in.
- If not automatically registered, contact your local Agriculture Extension Officer to confirm your land records are current.
- In the event of the farmer's death, the nominee files a claim through the local agriculture office with the death certificate.
- LIC processes the claim and the ₹5 lakh is credited to the nominee's bank account, typically within about 10 days of a verified claim.
- Keep nominee details updated to avoid delays in a future claim.
