What this scheme offers
Launched in 2019, Krishak Bandhu was built around a simple recognition: farm income in West Bengal is genuinely seasonal, so support arriving as two separate payments timed to Kharif and Rabi makes more practical sense than one annual lump sum. Every enrolled farmer receives up to ₹10,000 a year split across the two cropping seasons. The scheme's second half matters just as much — if an enrolled farmer dies for any reason during the coverage period, their family receives ₹2 lakh, turning what begins as an income-support scheme into genuine protection against the shock of losing a farming household's primary earner.
