What this scheme offers
Andhra Pradesh does not give every household free electricity, but it runs three targeted free-power concessions. Farmers with agricultural pump sets get nine hours of free daytime power a day — more than 22 lakh farmers, with about ₹13,722 crore provided for 2026-27 according to one summary. SC and ST households get free domestic power, reported as up to 200 units a month; the Southern Power Distribution Company said in 2026 that free power continues for about eight lakh SC/ST households, barbers and dhobi ghats in its area, and that its 2026-27 tariff order carried no hike because the state bridged the revenue gap. New from 1 April 2026, handloom weavers get up to 200 free units a month and power-loom operators 500 units, for about 93,000 and 11,488 families at roughly ₹150 crore a year, according to All India Radio.
