What this scheme offers
Bihar's Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana is a modest anti-dowry marriage grant: ₹5,000 is paid by direct transfer for the daughter of a BPL or low-income family at the time of her marriage. Several websites claim much larger figures such as ₹10,000 or ₹50,000, but the Social Welfare Department's service listing shows ₹5,000. The conditions matter as much as the money: the bride must be at least 18 and the groom at least 21, the marriage must be registered, and the family must give a Form XI declaration that no dowry was taken or given. The department lists a service time of 21 days, excluding holidays.
Who is eligible

- Bride aged 18 years or above and groom aged 21 years or above at the time of marriage.

- A self-declaration (Form XI) that no dowry was taken or given.
