What this scheme offers
Goa launched the Laadli Laxmi Scheme on 6 July 2012 to change the idea that a daughter is a financial burden on her family. An eligible girl is entitled to ₹1,00,000. If she is unmarried, the amount is placed in a bank fixed deposit held jointly in the names of the Director of Women and Child Development and the girl, which she can claim on turning 18 for higher education or to start a business. If she is married, she receives the amount in cash through the bank, but only if she claims it within six months of the marriage with a valid marriage certificate. Parental annual income must not exceed ₹3 lakh. A modified version of the scheme was notified in January 2026; its changes are not widely published, so check current terms before applying.
