Vahli Dikri Yojana

₹1,10,000 for a Gujarat girl child — paid at Class 1 admission, Class 9 admission, and a substantial final payment at age 18, aimed at securing her education and delaying early marriage.

What this scheme offers

Launched on 2 August 2019, Vahli Dikri Yojana ("beloved daughter scheme") pays a Gujarat family in three structured installments: ₹4,000 when the girl is admitted to Class 1, ₹6,000 when she reaches Class 9, and a substantial ₹1,00,000 when she turns 18 — provided she has remained unmarried and, per the scheme's design, continued her education. The staged structure, and the deliberately large final payment, are meant to work against two pressures families in low-income households often face: pulling a daughter from school for financial reasons, and marrying her off early. The scheme covers up to the first two daughters in a family.
