What this scheme offers
Ladakh is a special-category region under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and on 26 June 2024 the UT administration added its own top-up subsidy. For a household, the Centre pays ₹33,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹19,800 for the additional kW up to 3 kW, and the UT adds ₹20,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹10,000 for the third. That makes a total subsidy of ₹53,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹1,06,000 for 2 kW and ₹1,35,800 for 3 kW; there is no subsidy above 3 kW, though up to 10 kW can be installed under a contract. In 2026 the department invited bids to install 1–3 kW systems for up to 7,000 households with five years of maintenance, and a separate scheme for commercial establishments such as hotels and guest houses was inaugurated in September 2025.
