Mukhyamantri Kalyani Vivah Sahayata Yojana (Madhya Pradesh)

₹2 lakh for a widow in Madhya Pradesh who remarries, paid into her bank account — with no income limit, but a ban on claiming the Kanya Vivah grant for the same marriage.

What this scheme offers

Madhya Pradesh's Kalyani Vivah Sahayata Yojana, in force since 1 April 2018, gives ₹2 lakh to a widow — the 'Kalyani' — who remarries, deposited in her own bank account. Unlike most marriage schemes it has no BPL or income limit; what matters is who the couple are. Both the widow and her husband must be Madhya Pradesh natives, she must be 18 and he 21, the husband's earlier wife must not be alive, and the widow must not be an income-tax payer, a government employee or a family-pension recipient. She cannot also claim the Kanya Vivah / Nikah grant or the disability marriage-promotion grant, and if she marries in a Kanya Vivah mass ceremony only the Kalyani benefit applies.

Who is eligible

  • The widow (Kalyani) and her husband must both be natives of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The widow must be at least 18 and the husband at least 21 at the time of marriage; the husband's earlier wife must not be alive.
  • The widow must not be an income-tax payer, a government or government-funded employee, or a family-pension recipient.
  • No BPL or income limit applies.
  • She cannot claim Kanya Vivah / Nikah or the disability marriage-promotion scheme for the same marriage; at a mass ceremony only the Kalyani benefit applies.

  • Marriage certificate
  • Death certificate of the widow's first husband
  • Aadhaar cards of the widow and the husband
  • Samagra ID and domicile proof of both
  • Declaration of no income tax, no government job and no family pension
  • Bank account details of the widow
