What this scheme offers
MMVY exists for one specific moment: a student has done well enough in Class 12 to get into a good college, but the family can't pay the fees. The state steps in and pays the admission fee and tuition fee directly — in full at government colleges, and up to ₹1.5 lakh a year (or the actual fee, whichever is lower) for engineering at private colleges. Full tuition is also covered for MBBS/BDS and for law at National Law Universities. The scheme covers fees only; mess charges and caution money are not included. One practical note: sources disagree on the family income ceiling — some say ₹6 lakh a year, others ₹8 lakh — so check the current limit on the portal before assuming you qualify or don't.
