What this scheme offers
Shabari Awas Yojana is Maharashtra's rural housing scheme for Scheduled Tribe families, the tribal counterpart of Ramai Awas for Scheduled Castes and Modi Awas for OBCs. It is 100% state-funded and gives ₹1,20,000 to build a house in the general area, rising to ₹1,30,000 in Naxal-affected and hilly areas, plus 90 to 95 days of MGNREGA unskilled wages and a ₹12,000 toilet grant under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) where eligible — a total that district pages put at up to about ₹1.59 lakh. The house must have at least 269 sq ft of carpet area including a kitchen and toilet. The Gram Sabha recommends the families and a district-level committee makes the final selection. The scheme has run in rural areas since 2013, and the current period is notified from July 2025 to July 2029.
