What this scheme offers
Launched on 1 April 2025 and managed by the Mizoram State Health Care Society, MUHCS provides family-floater health insurance covering eligible hospitalisation expenses at empanelled hospitals, including pre-existing conditions from day one. Five categories — AB PM-JAY beneficiaries, state government employees, MSHCS employees, provisional/muster roll workers, and civil pensioners (all with their dependents) — are enrolled automatically based on existing government records, at no separate cost. The general public, not falling into any of these categories, enrols as "Contributory Beneficiaries," choosing from General, Standard, or Private plans based on what they can afford — the General Plan runs from around ₹2,500 a year. Children under 5 are covered under a parent's MUHCS card without needing a separate card of their own.
Who is eligible
- Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY beneficiaries, as per the updated central list.
- State government employees and dependents (verified via the IFMIS database).
- Mizoram State Health Care Society (MSHCS) employees and dependents.
- Provisional employees / Muster Roll workers under the Government of Mizoram, and dependents.
- Civil pensioners under the Government of Mizoram, and dependents.
- General public not in the above categories — eligible as Contributory Beneficiaries, paying an annual premium.
Documents required
- Aadhaar card, for individual identity verification
- Ration card, for family and dependent verification — or a village/local council certificate listing household members if a ration card isn't available
How to enrol
- Online: Visit the official MUHCS enrolment portal, register with your family and ration card details, enter Aadhaar details for all family members, and upload required documents.
- If enrolling as a Contributory Beneficiary, pay the applicable annual premium online via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.
- Submit the application and wait for verification by the Mizoram State Health Care Society.
- After approval, a unique MUHCS ID is generated and a MUHCS card issued.
- Offline: Visit your nearest Local Council office (urban areas) or Village Council office (rural areas), or a health sub-centre, to complete a physical enrolment form and submit documents.
- State government employees and PE/Muster Roll staff do not need to register separately — their enrolment is handled through existing employment records.
