What this scheme offers
Mukhyamantri Mangla Pashu Bima Yojana, announced on 10 July 2025 with an outlay of about ₹400 crore, insures livestock free of cost for one year — the state pays the entire premium. It covers indigenous and crossbred milch cows and buffaloes, camels, and female goats and sheep, with an initial target of five lakh cows and buffaloes, five lakh sheep and goats and one lakh camels. The insured value is set by the animal's age, health and milk yield, up to ₹40,000 for a cow, buffalo or camel and ₹4,000 for a goat or sheep. A family can insure two cows, two buffaloes, one of each, ten goats or sheep, or one camel. Registration is through a Jan Aadhaar number, and claims are made by calling 181.
