Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana

₹25,000 in total support for a girl child in Uttar Pradesh — paid out across six milestones from birth through college admission, not as a single lump sum.

What this scheme offers

Launched in October 2019, this conditional cash transfer scheme pays a Uttar Pradesh family a total of ₹25,000 (increased from ₹15,000 in 2024) for a girl child, released in six stages tied to her health and education milestones: ₹5,000 at birth, ₹2,000 on completing vaccination, ₹3,000 on Class 1 admission, ₹3,000 on Class 6 admission, ₹5,000 on Class 9 admission, and ₹7,000 on securing admission to a graduate or diploma course after Class 12. The staged structure is deliberate — it keeps the incentive tied to the girl staying in school and receiving proper healthcare at each stage, rather than paying out once and losing that leverage.

Who is eligible

  • The girl child's family must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Family annual income must not exceed ₹3,00,000.
  • Maximum of two daughters per family can be enrolled (with exceptions for twins/triplets in specific circumstances).
  • The girl must be enrolled/progressing at each relevant stage (vaccination, Class 1, Class 6, Class 9, Class 10/11/12, graduation/diploma) to claim that installment.

Documents required

  • Aadhaar card (of the girl and parents)
  • Birth certificate
  • Income certificate
  • Residence proof
  • Bank account details (girl's or mother's account, as specified)
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Vaccination certificate and school admission proof, at the relevant stages

How to apply

  1. Visit the official portal (mksy.up.gov.in) and register using a valid mobile number, verified via OTP.
  2. Fill in the family, income and girl child's details for the applicable stage.
  3. Upload the required documents (Aadhaar, birth certificate, income certificate, bank details) as per the stage you're applying for.
  4. Submit the application — it's reviewed at the district level for verification.
  5. Once approved, the installment is transferred via DBT to the registered bank account.
  6. Reapply at each subsequent stage (Class 6, Class 9, graduation admission, etc.) as your daughter reaches that milestone — this isn't a one-time application covering all six stages automatically in every district's process.
