What this scheme offers
First launched in December 2021 and continuing with fresh allocations each academic year — 25 lakh new tablets approved with a ₹2,374.60 crore budget for 2026-27 — this scheme gives eligible final-year students a free device to support digital and higher education. Devices are fully state-funded, at no cost to the student. Importantly, there is no student registration form for this scheme: your college or institute's nodal officer collects and uploads eligible student data directly to the Digi Shakti Portal, which then moves through university-level checking and department-level locking before your name appears for the final step, which is your own Aadhaar e-KYC.
Who is eligible
- Final-year students in graduation, post-graduation, diploma, technical, health, ITI, and skill-training courses.
- Must be enrolled at a UP institution recognised by the relevant university or regulatory body.
- Eligibility is determined and submitted by your institution — individual students don't self-nominate.
What you need to do
- There is no application form to fill and no student login ID created for this on the Digi Shakti Portal.
- Your college/institute's nodal officer is responsible for uploading your data as an eligible final-year student.
- Your only required action is completing Aadhaar-based e-KYC once your name appears at the department-locked stage — this is done via the official Digi Shakti Portal.
How to check your status
- Confirm with your college's administration that your name has been submitted as an eligible final-year student for the current academic year.
- Visit digishakti.up.gov.in to check your status once your department has locked the eligible list.
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC when prompted — this is the only step that requires action from you personally.
- Devices are distributed after e-KYC verification is complete, through your institution or a designated distribution point.
- Be alert to scams: any website or individual asking you to pay a fee or fill a separate "application form" for this scheme is fraudulent — there is no such requirement.
