Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana (Uttar Pradesh)

Up to ₹5 lakh to the family of a farmer who dies or is seriously disabled in an accident in Uttar Pradesh — with no premium to pay, and claims now accepted within 180 days of the accident.

What this scheme offers

Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana, begun on 14 September 2019, is a state-funded accident cover for farmers — no premium is paid. If a farmer dies in an accident, or suffers complete disability (loss of both hands, both feet or both eyes, or one hand and one foot), the family receives up to ₹5 lakh; partial disability is reported to attract ₹2.5 lakh. It is distinct from the older Kisan evam Sarvhit Bima Yojana card scheme, which websites often confuse with it. In May 2025 the Revenue Department told all District Magistrates that claims can now be filed within 180 days of the accident, up from 45 days, and the 2025-26 budget for the scheme was raised to ₹1,150 crore.

Who is eligible

  • Permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh aged 18 to 70 at the time of the accident.
  • Recorded as a khatedar or co-khatedar (landholder) in the state's revenue records, with the main income from that land.
  • The death or disability must be caused by an accident.
  • The claim must be filed within 180 days of the accident (extended from 45 days in May 2025).

Documents required

  • Certified copy of the khatauni from the tehsil
  • FIR or accident report, and the post-mortem report or death certificate (for death claims)
