PM SVAMITVA Yojana

A legal Property Card for your rural home — mapped by drone, free of dispute, and usable as collateral for a bank loan for the first time.

What this scheme offers

For generations, most rural Indian families lived in homes with no formal ownership paperwork — making it nearly impossible to get a bank loan, settle a dispute, or sell the property with legal certainty. SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) uses high-resolution drone surveys to map every residential plot in a village's inhabited ("abadi") area, then issues a legal Record of Rights — the Property Card — to each owner. The process starts with "Chuna Markan": residents mark their plot boundaries with white lime under Gram Panchayat supervision, before the drone survey. Cards can then be used as collateral for bank loans (SBI, PNB and ICICI now offer dedicated "SVAMITVA Loan" products), help resolve boundary disputes, and let Gram Panchayats introduce fairer property tax systems. As of 2026, drone surveys have covered 6.62+ lakh villages, with over 2.25 crore property documents issued.

Who is eligible

  • Rural residents whose property sits within the village's inhabited ("abadi") area.
  • Must have been in possession of the property since 25 September 2018 or earlier.
  • Aadhaar-linked registration is required to receive the digital property card.

Documents required

  • Aadhaar card, linked to your mobile number
  • Proof of possession/residence since before 25 September 2018

How to check and download your Property Card

  1. Check with your Gram Panchayat whether the drone survey and "Chuna Markan" boundary marking has been completed in your village.
  2. Attend the community boundary-marking event when scheduled, to confirm your plot's edges are correctly recorded.
  3. After the survey and a public objection window (for disputing incorrect boundaries), the property card is finalised.
  4. Visit svamitva.nic.in, select "Download Property Card," and enter your State, District, Tehsil and Village.
  5. Alternatively, check for an SMS link sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, or download it via DigiLocker.
  6. Once you have your card, you can approach a bank offering SVAMITVA-backed loan products to use it as collateral.
