What this scheme offers
Originally launched as Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana in July 2012 and renamed in 2017, MJPJAY provides cashless medical treatment for serious illnesses and surgeries — cardiac procedures, cancer treatment, kidney transplants, knee replacements and more — at hospitals empanelled with the scheme, across all 36 districts of Maharashtra. Coverage runs up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for most categories. The scheme now operates in convergence with the central Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, so families eligible under both schemes get combined benefit continuity rather than needing to navigate two separate systems.
Who is eligible
- Families holding one of four ration card types: Yellow (BPL), Orange, Antyodaya, or Annapurna card.
- Families covered under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY are automatically included through the integrated system.
- Certain additional categories (like agriculture-distressed farmer families in specific districts) have been added to eligibility over time — check the official portal for the current full list.
Documents required
- Ration card (Yellow, Orange, Antyodaya, or Annapurna)
- Aadhaar card
- Photo ID
- Income certificate, if applicable to your eligibility category
How to apply
- Check jeevandayee.gov.in to confirm your family's eligibility using your ration card details.
- Visit any empanelled hospital's Arogyamitra (patient-facilitation desk) — they verify eligibility and register you in the system directly.
- Present your ration card and Aadhaar for verification.
- Once confirmed, treatment for a covered procedure proceeds cashlessly — you don't pay upfront and reclaim later.
- For procedures not covered under this scheme but covered under PM-JAY (or vice versa), the empanelled hospital's system routes you to the applicable scheme automatically given the integration.
